“Are you fucking crazy?” Brain asked, clearly baffled.

Heart sighed. “Yes, Brain. Yes, I am. Crazy in love.”

“What’s there to love?” Brain snapped, already losing her patience. “He’s an idiot.”

Heart thumped in protest. “We’ve been over this, Brain. I know he’s not perfect, but I love him.”

“Sometimes love isn’t enough, Heart.”

“But it can be,” Heart argued. “Love’s supposed to be messy sometimes. And yeah, ours is a damn wreck. But other times it’s beautiful.”

“Beautiful, huh? What about those texts you found on his phone last week? Were those beautiful?”

Heart gasped. “Damn, that was a low blow. Did you really have to bring that up?”

“Hell yeah, I did,” Brain shot back. “Someone’s gotta keep your lovesick ass in check.”

If Heart had eyes, she would’ve rolled them so hard they’d fall out. “It’s not that serious, Brain. He said he was sorry.”

Brain laughed. “Sorry? Ha! Yeah, his ass is sorry all right. Sorry he got caught.”

“Oh, screw you!” Heart snapped. “You think you’re so smart. You don’t know everything!”

“Oh, really?” Brain said, smug as hell. “I know more than you. That’s why I’m the Brain, dumbass.”

“Would you two shut the hell up already?” Mouth growled.

“Yeah!” Ears chimed in. “I’m tired of listening to this shit. I’m about to have Hands rip me clean off of Head.”
