POEM STARTER
Write a poem inspired by a colour.
Silver
Silver necklaces, draped across my neck.
Never first,
But never last,
So I greedily accept second place.
I long for a place among the moon and stars,
Their silver mimicking my own.
Second place is the first to lose,
But it’s fine.
I deserved that.
If I had just worked harder,
Cared more,
Put in more effort,
It would’ve been gold.
You see I have this golden potential,
But I don’t work hard enough to reach it.
Second place is more that I should I have gotten,
So I pull the heavy medal over my head,
And whisper a promise to the stars.
“Next time”
“I’ll work harder next time”
