Fly To Me
**I wrote this poem with a prompt of my own, if you use this prompt, please give me credit for the prompt.**
**Prompt: Describe the experience of loving someone who doesn’t love you back. Focus on the persistence of hope and the slow erosion of self.**
Helplessly in love
With a man,
A white dove
That never seems
To fly
In my direction,
Though I’m not
Hopeless.
_I’ll NEVER_
_Lose hope…_
_He’s bound_
_To love me_
_SOMEDAY…_
_I think._
That’s all
That’s on
My mind
These days…
My love for him…
My faith in him…
My hope that someday
He’ll feel
The same way.
_If he doesn’t_
_Return my feelings,_
_What will become of me?_
_He _
_Is all of_
_Me…_
I’m
Losing myself
In this
Painfully
_(Not hopelessly!)_
Unrequited
_(Soon to be_
_Requited!)_
Love!
Losing my mind,
Chasing hopes and dreams,
Though it was all in my head
And I fell behind
Outside
The storms and swirls
Inside.
Before him,
Ah yes,
Those were the days
Where is focus on
Self-care,
And personal development,
And my hobbies…
_Not anymore!_
My only focus,
My sole purpose,
It’s all him…
I love him,
Everything
About him,
The very air he breathes,
Knowing that I breathe it too
Is a true blessing
That I love!
_He may_
_Not love me now,_
_But someday,_
_In the near future,_
_He will…_
_I’m sure of it._
_At least…_
_I’m hopeful!_
I’m losing myself
To this
Addiction to love,
To hope,
To dreams…
_But…_
_For him,_
_I’ll do anything _
_And no matter_
_The consequences,_
_It will be_
_Worth it._
He’s a white dove
That never seems
To fly
In my direction…
Please baby,
Fly to me!
_Until then,_
_I’ll be waiting,_
_Soul full of hope,_
_Heart full of love…_
_For him, _
_All the waiting around is_
_Worth it!_
