POEM STARTER
Don’t let yourself float away to the moon, or you’ll miss the flowers under your feet that bloom.
Write a poem which incorporates this line.
Nights Sky
From the dark comes the light
In the nights sky her eyes are wide and unguarded.
She spent hours staring at the sky.
Knowing one day she would have all that her imagination could build
It was just a matter of time.
Her start began in a world that was often confusing, giving to receive
She felt the weight of the dark shadows from those around her
Taking the light she had within.
The path seemed easy then.
Her innocence deluded the evil who walked amongst her.
Dreams could be stolen,
that storms could break
what her imagination built.
Her heart—
too soft,
too open,
poured love into everything
She could see people
Good or bad, she saw them all.
While she stood alone.
Even bleeding, she gave.
Even shattered, she reached
Her gift was her curse.
A heart so wide
is the first to break.
Now grown,
she sees the cost she was always fearful to believe .
Not everyone close
is truly by her side.
The betrayal stings,
cuts deeper than she imagined.
Still, she cannot harden.
She carries the ache,
the weight of knowing,
and yet—
she keeps searching.
Because in every darkness
she has ever faced, the stars still found her as long as she kept looking up.
