POEM STARTER
‘It is easier to tell someone the truth when you can't see their face.'
Write a poem inspired by, or beginning with, this line.
Tell Me It’s Not A Lie—In My Eyes
(The song starts off slow; Tone soft, and flat rather than sharp)
The lies that they tell
(Ooo, ooo)
Fall straight—
From hell
And I know this
Because
Of everything
Else
They tell me
But they turn away
I never see their
Face
So how do I know
They’re telling the truth?
(Whisper: They’re not)
(Tempo speeds up instantly—Tone grows stronger, raspy, and fierce)
(The orchestra: Da—Da! Dada—Da! Da! Dada! [repeat])
Look me in the eyeees~
Tell me it’s not a lieeee~
Let me see your faceee
So I know it’s not a gameee~
But I can’t trust
You!
Cause I can’t read
You!
Come on!
Tell me pleaseee!—
Look me in the eyeees—
Oh!
One! Two! Three!
(Orchestra: Daaaaa—Dadada Da! Daaaa; Daaaaa—Dadada Da! Daaaa [repeat])
(Tempo slightly lets off. Tone turns pleading, but not loosing its fuel)
Oh baby
Please whisper in me ear
Tell me that—
That it’s only me,
being weird
Cause what I wanna hear!
And what you’re gonna say!
(Tone raises the voice)
Feel like they will be
Two FUCKING separate things~
Ooo-ohhhh!
(Orchestra: Daaaaaa—daaa, daaaa!)
(STOP)
(The tempo returns to what it was in the beginning; Tone returns gentle, whispering:)
Look me in the eyes
Tell me it’s not a lie
Oh,
Look me in the eyes
So I don’t say goodbye~
(Whisper: So don’t you tell a lie)
