POEM STARTER

"Do you think the sun gets lonely up there?"

Brighter Than
To shine brighter than heaven
To eclipse even the Earth and moon
To grow what’s green from seven to seven
To rule the world from July to June
This is what you do
The center of our days
With all that we go through
You light our paths, guide our ways
But it must be a lonely thing to be
Always shining brighter than the rest
To know each ray of light we see
Means you alone must do your best
The Earth has the moon, so they dance
Mercury and Venus bow, spin and sway
But where is the Sun’s romantic glance?
What keeps him company, night or day?
Do you think the sun gets lonely up there?
Do you imagine its fiery twin or mate?
I wonder if anyone can ever truly care
About the solo star that seals our very fate
The sun lives in each of us, so we live as it can
But I wonder what it’s like to shine brighter than.
