Torn Dreams, My Mothers Screams
Today is the day I wish would go away
The one on which
my father corpse will be on display
As the leaves in the graveyard crunch behind my back
Each though of my father, a personal attack
His bloodline dressed in black
The line which without him has begun to crack
The one for which we have dreaded
The way in which my father’s soul has headed
Brought away by the phantom
of death’s cold hands
It seems as if his soul was meant for higher lands
For we go to mourn his loss
As it is my mother’s sanity that it has cost
The twin souls torn apart
For what reason I ask the dark
In the rain and shadows unending
The reason our hearts are rending
Maybe if he was unending
Our family wouldn’t be bending
We remember the warmth of his grasp
His love for us even when we took last
Though now his debts, upon us are cast
We pray that God may forgive him for his past
While we wish that this day may go away
It’s inevitable that this loss is here to stay
For it was a bullet that ended our dreams
Still to this day I hear my mother’s pained screams
