WRITING OBSTACLE
Write the climax of a murder mystery story without any reference to the victim or the crime itself.
The climax can be defined as the point in the story with the highest tension and stakes. How will you drive the story without mentioning the crime?
Dust On A Beach
When a leaf falls from a tree
When it disconnects with the structure it was given
The leaf crumples
Will I crumple?
Will my lifeless form wash up on the ocean's sandy beaches
Would anyone notice?
If I’m without you, who would come looking
May my corpse rot, my skin decaying off my bones
May life keep moving with the rotations of the earth
Each time the sun rises, let him remember the way it would glint off my flesh,
Let him remember the pearl white bones my skin hung off of
Every time he closes his eyes, let him see my fallen body buried in the sand, the ocean waves the only thing that acknowledge me with the thump of their waves
Even if it's his rusted cleaver that's shoved into my skull, it was my bloodied hands that put it there
My hands touched with scattered red dots and tucked dirt under my bitten down nails
From scratching my self out of my given grave just to dig another
So here I lie accepting my fate
Letting the ocean seem peaceful as it pads against my feet
Letting the sun burn what remains of my skin
And the sand get stuck in the loose strands of my hair
It’s peaceful death, peaceful in the setting sun
