Imagination Street
Walking through a daisy field, the sun shining on my face, the warmth of the flowers overtaking my nose, it felt like _home_.
The song “Home,” by Forrest Frank played in my headphones.
With a pip in my step, I laugh, and Joy bubbles up in my heart.
Someone taps my shoulder, so I turn around. Suddenly, a random love song plays. My eyes widen in shock, and the world is now in slow motion. This beautiful 5’11 man is standing in front of me, a huge smile on his face.
I take my headphones off, still awestruck.
“Do you like to come here?” He asked, his face full of warmth.
“Yes,” I nod, still in shock.
He laughs and says, “Here,” shyly handing me a daisy.
My face turns red. “Thank you.” I receive the daisy and smile brightly.
My turn to ask a question, “This place is so gorgeous isn’t it?”
We walk side by side, each step unhurried and delicate, I intertwine my hands together and slightly sway.
“It’s so beautiful,” He said, but I could feel his gaze on me.
“What’s your name, by the way?”
“Oh—“ He realizes he never told me, “Austin, How about you?”
“Aurelia.”
“Wow, that’s a beautiful name, it’s suits you greatly.”
I just now noticed his British accent.
“Are you British?”
“Yes, how did you notice?”
“The way you say, ‘Suites you greatly,’ I don’t normally say that, and your British accent slipped out.”
“Oh really?”
“Yeah. Oh, and I can do a _really_ good British accent.”
“Really?” He tilted his head up, squinting his eyes to see me in the sun.
“Yeah,” I nod.
“Let’s hear this,” He rubs his hands in anticipation.
“Okay…” I slip into my British accent, “How are you _darling_?” I smirked.
“Wow, that was actually really good. You could sign up for a talent show or something.”
“Thanks, you think so?”
“Yeah, I think so.”
From there we competed to see who did better—I won.
“I think I won,” he said playfully.
“Nuh uh, I won!” I matched his tone and laughed.
“I’m the actual British here, but I’ll give you extra brownie points.”
“Thank you,” I smiled, enjoying the banter.
“Oh—I have to go.” He said suddenly then gave me his phone number.
“Okay.. bye!” I wave to him.
He waves back, “It was nice to meet you, don’t forget I’m only a call away.”
We departed and there the slow-mo was again, he looked back and waved again, a huge smile plastered on his face, and then he walked right into the sunset.
But then I woke up… it was all fake. It wasn’t real. I wasn’t walking through a daisy field and That magical smile of his was gone… he wasn’t real.
