Carrying The Weight
The weight of this secret
Appears on the scale
I walk around to lose it
But what I see
Just gives me more
Exhausting expectations
Add to the flames
Of my insecurities
That burn my mind and soul
I gasp for just a little air,
And ethereal hiatus that promises refuge,
But am always denied it
I grow heavier and heavier
Every damn day
With the weight
Of these thoughts
And this secret
Even when I consume
Absolutely nothing
This secret becomes my world
And like Atlas,
I am crumbling under
The weight of it
And these chains follow me
Everywhere
Wrapping around my ankles and wrists
And just pulling me under and closer
To the scale
Forcing the number to go up
Against my will
