They Weren’t Filled With Rage
(Very basic but whatevs)
I walked past this man and accidentally bumped into him,
“What’s wrong with you!?” He stared at me with dagger sharp blue eyes. His hair looked ruffled. Like he’d just left a fight.
The man dusted himself off.
“I’m sorry,” I said softly.
“Yeah well you should be! What if I had an injury where you hit me!?”
“Did you have an injury where I hit you?” I asked looking him up and down. He was wearing light blue jeans and an oversized red t-shirt. He had on scruffed up black and white converse.
“No! But I could have!” He stepped hard on the floor. “I could call this assault!”
When I looked to his eyes again they weren’t filled with rage. They looked like they were filled with- I couldn’t tell.
“Once again I’m sorry I didn’t mean to bump into you.”
“Yeah they all say they’re sorry. But they never really are, are they?”
I could tell now. Sadness.
“Are you okay?” I asked taking a step toward him.
“No.” He said quietly. He took a step back.
“You can talk about it.”
And so he did. He talks about his life and what was biting at him.
He thanked me and walked off.
