the scream

it’s been bubbling

and brewing

i can feel it climbing up my throat

clawing its way up

and then it stops

i swallow the scream;

down

down

down

somewhere deep within myself in a place it will never be found

and then the next scream starts clawing like nails on a chalk board but it’s ripping through my flesh.

the scream is tearing me apart from the inside out.

begging

please

please hear me

let me be heard

but i refuse to hear the scream

it has no place here

it’s too feral and raw and wild

there’s no home for the screamers

only homes for the dreamers

so i swallow it down

deeper

and deeper

down.

please i pray don’t let this scream be found

and then it scratches its way up my throat again

more violent and bloody making me bleed and it hurts

its need to be heard

scream tells me as long as i swallow it down it will always be found. deep. within. myself. and it will eat my alive from the inside out.
