POEM STARTER
Write an elegy about the death of something other than a person.
An elegy is a sad poem, traditionally expressing sorrow for someone who has passed away.
Pain So Deep
I stare down at my hands
Like a beating drum in the bands
I feel my heart beat heavy
A pounding in my chest
I had to put him to rest
My heart cries but I know it was right
The pain wrapped my mind so tight
I cannot think straight
All this was a mistake
I cannot live knowing what happened here
Slowly the ringing in my ears
Builds
Builds
Builds
Builds
I look at my puppy
The innocence now bloody
My hands tainted with his life
We couldn’t save him but I still held the knife
He should’ve stayed alive
Now it begins…the mystery at house 45
