POEM STARTER
Red Roses
Write a poem using this as the theme
Red Roses
Red Roses
Gorgeous, beautiful, red roses
With the red petals all out in the open
Being on top, connected by a prickly stem
I remember when you had your roses out
In your garden with your lilies, orchids, and tulips
Roses were always your favorite
Specifically red ones
Because they’d match with the shirt you wore
They’d match your shoes
They’d match your hair
They’d match your eyes, your heart, and your soul
You loved gardening
You loved me gardening with you
You loved me taking walks with you
You loved me singing to you
You loved me dancing with you
You loved me having good times with you
You loved me
I loved you
Your smile
Your laugh
Your energy
Your sense of humor
Your kindness
Your deep, placid nature
I loved you
Which is exactly why
When I showed up to your funeral
After it was over
When I was the last person there
Around your grave
Just looking down at your tombstone
I brought red roses with me
Your favorite
I bent down and placed red roses
On the dirt which you are now buried in
I got back up, standing there, and smiled
Just like how you did when you saw those red roses
