POEM STARTER
Write an elegy about the death of something other than a person.
An elegy is a sad poem, traditionally expressing sorrow for someone who has passed away.
Dead Faith In A Broken World
Faith
Is a beautiful thing,
A blessed feeling of belief,
But when the world around me
Is burning to naught but ash,
Faith
Is impossible to maintain.
That’s exactly what’s happening
With me.
Faith
Is a fragile thing,
Like a mirror,
With a hit hard enough,
It will shatter.
I once held this faithful mirror
To the world around us,
Admiring its glorious reflection,
Until it all started to burn
And my illusion of
Faith in society,
Faith in the world,
They died.
Broken,
Shattered,
Dead,
No more faith,
Numb in the head.
The world I once knew
Is broken and burning still,
And my faith in it
Is dead as if it was
Six feet under.
