POEM STARTER
Awakening
Write a poem about an awakening - it could be literal or metaphorical.
I Am Awakening
I no longer craved peace, I became peace
Not the side piece like I used to be
You know that word side-piece, a lady
A lady who willingly dealt with another woman’s partner for the sake of pleasure
I became peace, my aura filled rooms when I entered
My essence added a sweet touch to every conversation
I didn’t stumble on my words anymore
I didn’t stumble anymore my words were sober
I was sober I no longer craved alcohol
I no longer craved orgasms
I no longer craved organisms that didn’t serve serve a great purpose attached to me
Attached to me is peace that surpasses all understanding
I would never, could never understand how it took me so long to notice how soft the breeze is yet it’s able to move trees
How soft my voice seemed but yet it’s able to move mountains
How the softness of my pillow is the cause of my procrastination,
the cause of my set back,
that causes me to go back,
to my old ways
The old ways that caused me to crave peace
Peace looks so much different from what I imagined
And I never imagined having my craving satisfied
Now I’m satisfied by being me
I am peace, I am awakening
