Don’t be the rose

She’s discarded after a speck of brown

She’s plucked and pruned to perfection

Loosing all sense of self

If she isn’t perfect

People pay her no heed

She cares too much what people think

Causing her to droop and never stay upright again

Don’t be the thorn

He hurts everyone who tries to get close

He repels and resents

He sneaks up when you least expect it and strikes

It’s not his fault

It’s his nature

It’s what drives people away

They both have thier flaws

Big ones at that

She is the beauty that hides his jolt of reality and truth

He is the truth that isn’t put to light without crushing the beauty

They love her for her appearance

They love him for his refreshing honesty

They hate her for her fragility

They hate him for his sharp candor
