STORY STARTER
Your character manages to travel to the end of a rainbow, but instead of a pot of gold, they find…
A Filthy Gold Pool
I had always heard storys about following a rainbow to find a pot of gold and it wasn’t something I had ever belived. I used to think that it was just a fairytale but when I found myself following a rainbow into the forest I thought why not give it a shot so I did and this is what Ifound.
——————-
I walked into the thinly wooded area beside the path and listened carefully to the rain that was still dripping from the clouds above. Each drop landed on something weather that something was a leaf or it was the dirt I heard its song.
I remember thinking that I was insane for doing it and maybe I was but it was the most exiting thing I had done In years. I thought that sweet old Amy would be so jealous. She was always more of a believer in fairytales then I was, making me feel out of place.
I had tried to call her but the reception was horrible. After about a half our of walking I looked up into the sky and saw the colors begin to appear in the sky. Each one fainter then usual.
I knew there was little time I had left if I was going to make it to the end of the rainbow. I began to sing the wizard of oz in my head and skip through the trees.
The rain softened and I came across a small lake in the middle of the trees. When I looked up I sighed and felt so crazy for doing what I did. The rainbow ended right over the water.
It wasn’t just any water, but pitch black water. Searching through it was impossible so I decided to head back to my car before it got any darker. That’s when I began to notice the lack of sounds in that edge of the trees.
No birds where singing, no leaves where rustling. No squrills where chittering and there where no fish swimming in the water or making it move even the slightest bit.
I was searching ever inch of the trees for life when I saw a small little bunny jump out of the bushes and over to the water. The furry creature dipped its mouth in the water to drink and it couldn’t take it back out.
I freaked out and tossed a rock into the water. Instead of skipping across the waves or even falling in, it got caught in its sticky texture. It wasn’t even water. It was tar.
I ran over to the bunny and attempted to get it out. I didn’t want to pull and harm the creature so I thought about what I could do quickly to save it.
That’s where I remembered that sunscreen can help get tar offof you if you get it on yourself. I knew I had some on me in case it got hot so I pulled it out and began putting it around the nose of the bunny and slowly I watched the tar harden a crumbble away.
I fell back with a sigh of relief when the bunny skittered away, free of the tar. I couldn’t believe that this is what the rainbow picked for me to find today. I rolled my eyes and marched back to the car absolotly exsasted.
————————
That was my day and I can’t help but think that maybe keeping fairytales to fairlytales is better. When I got into my car I called Amy and she had the nerve to laugh at me. When I drove of I couldn’t help continuelsy telling myself over and over that I would never leave the city again and I didn’t. That is however, I didn’t until I had good reason to.
