STORY STARTER

Submitted by tinyelephant44

Write a short story about a fantasy creature going to the doctor for their yearly check-up. What would they measure? What constitutes as 'normal'?

Check Up

I waddled into a room so bright

White walls gleaming like fireflies

The doc came in sporting a grin

Our annual meeting was ‘bout to begin

He whipped out a ruler

Six feet tall

And used it to measure my coronary walls

“Good job,” he said, nodding his head,

“Your heart will keep beating with no pain at all!”

Next came the scale

And down came my head

“You should go rest,” Mr Doc said,

“Your head is so heavy, it’s like weighing lead!”

Now was the worst part

Out came his telescope

He peered through my eyes

To what I try to hide

He sighed at me then, shaking his head

He pouted his lip, his shoulders did dip

“Oh dear, oh dear, why come to me?

You can’t come here every year

But miss your therapist twice a week!”
