“Hey!” I swatted Aribella’s hand way from my cupcake, “This one’s mine, you ate yours!” I point to the empty cupcake wrapper.

“But yours has purple frosting!” She licked her lips, “Just one bite!” I shake my head. “Please!” She launches at my, grabbing my cupcake in the process.

“Ari!” I playfully yell as she devours my cupcake.

“Sorry,” she says with a mouthful of cupcake.

“Are not!” I cross my arms. “That means I get your share of corn tonight.” I don’t truely like corn but she loves it. I know it’ll get to her.

“No my corn! Please!”

“Fine! But you have to buy me ice cream!” I point to the colorful truck.

“Okay!” She gets up from the picnic blanket and runs to the truck. “Come on!” She yells over her shoulder.

“One Chocolate cone please!” I say as Ari hands the man the money.

I’m handed my cone and tease Ari with it.

“Stop that! Or I will be forced to take action!” She says in a commanding voice. I stop and enjoy my ice cream.

“All done!” I yell dropping my trash into the can.

“Good! Now le-“ A scream cuts her off. At first I think it’s a little kid that fell off the slide, then I hear a gun shot. A man appears in the distance, gun in hand, smile on his face.

“Get down!” I yell to Ari as we leap under a table.

Her breath is ragged, her eyes are full of fear. “What do we do?” She whispers.

We don’t have phones so we can’t call anyone. The police station is only a mile away, we could run. But we would most likely get caught.

“Just stay here, maybe someone called the police, we’ll be okay.”

I here footsteps. I flip around and cover Ari. There the man is his grin wider then before.

“Sisters ay?” He says as her crouches down. “Ill only shoot one of ya. And if I like you I’ll shoot you in a place where you _might _be able to survive.”

“Me,” I whisper. With out a second chance he shoots. Shoots me right in the thigh.

“Better hurry if you wanna survive.” And just like that he walks away.

I collapse to the floor, blood everywhere. My throat feels tighter.

“Mary!” Ari screams as she puts pressure on my leg. “Please!” She cries. “Please.” She says qiuter this time. Her hand brushes the hair from my face. “I will not walk this earth without you.”
