Dorian Greybird

The cafĂ© June was supposed to meet her sister and her new boyfriend in was located in a busy shopping street across from the promenade. The weather was terrible, so when she turned the corner and saw the creaky sign for the Blackberry June fled inside, relieved. She sat down at one of the rustic wooden tables close to the window, waiting for her ever late sister. The couple entered soon after her, a little bell tingeling and stopping abruptly as the door shut behind them. The boy May was with was tall, dark brown curls framing an attractive face. He had changed a lot, but June recocnized his eyes. Dark Opal, now looking at her older sister completely love struck. For her sake, the younger girl decided to play nice, to pretend she had never met “Jackson” before.

“Juni!!” Her sister called, pulling her back into reality.

“Hey!” She smiled so wide and fake it hurt her face.

“You must be Jackson.” Yeah_ _right.

“Yeah. Nice to meet you June.” A muscle in his Jaw ticced. So he recocnized her too. Good.

“How did you guys meet?” June asked, feigning interest.

“Oh, at one of my art shows a few months ago.

We actually had our first date at this cafe! What do you think?”

June gazed over the soft cushioned seats in dark indigos, greens and yellows, the framed pictures that were probably all Pinterest photos printed on cheap posters, the light wood floor and service counter with baked goods stacked in glass display cases and the big red coffee machine that was currently spitting out hot, foamy milk.

“It’s cute. Cozy.”

“Yeah. Cozy.” Jackson agreed. The first time he’d ever agreed with her, she mentally noted.

May, obviously oblivious to the unspoken tension between the two chirped: “So what do you guys want to drink?”

“I’ll take a latte babe, thanks.” He flashed her one of his playboy smiles. She fell for it.

“Okay.

Juni?”

“Yeah,me too. Will you get them May?Pretty please?” June batted her eyes at her sister.

“Sure!” She eyed the long cue.

“Might take a while though
”

“Oh that’s okay! I’ll get to know Jackson better then.” He squirmed a bit. He was right where she wanted him.

May laughed. “Great! Just don’t kill him, I kinda like this one.”

“No promises.” May laughed again, not knowing how serious her sister was being.

As soon as she was gone, the two dropped the act. “What the FUCK Dorian?” She hissed.

“Oh come on June-“

“You couldn’t me the first time, so you thought you’d nail my sister?!”

“I didn’t know!” He said defensively.

She rolled her eyes. “Oh, stop that.”

“What?”

“Acting all innocent! Dorian, I nearly died because of you! Don’t pretend that’s nothing!”

“It was an accident!”

“That doesn’t make it better!

Stay away from my sister. I mean it.” Her voice got dangerously quiet. “Or I will do what you did to me. And unlike you, I’m not going to chicken out last second. I will kill you. I will make you scream and cry and I will love every fucking second of it.”

Dorian didn’t move.

“That’s cute. But you wouldn’t. You wouldn’t even cause a scene in public.”

“Oh
 would I not?”

June picked up the boiling pot of coffee a waitress was carrying by. Then, without batting an eye, she poured it ovwr the brunette boy.

He screamed. Not as loud as her.

“WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? FUCK OFF DORIAN!”

Her sister looked over at them, fear spreading over her face, finally realising who her prized Jackson was. Her sister’s horrid ex and almost- killer.

The boy left quietly, turning around at the door again. “Oh, June?”

She glared at him.

“This way may not have worked, but believe me, I’m not done. I will get you.”

“You wish.”
