STORY STARTER

Brave

Write a story about what what it means to be brave in your view.

Brave

I’m not brave

I hide from my thoughts

My feelings

My dreams

I’m not brave

I cower at the slightest raise of a voice

I cower at the moment I need to be brave

I cower at the small voice lurking inside my head

I’m not brave

You scare me

Though you don’t mean to

I’m afraid of when you will hurt me again

I’m not brave

I don’t stand up for myself

I don’t say what hurts me

I don’t stand up for others

I feel like I’m not brave

I have so many fears

Fears I can’t face

I’m not brave

But maybe that’s what makes me brave

All the fears I have

I have to face them many times

Sometimes I’m so scared

I think I’m going to cry

Or throw up

But I don’t

I don’t know why

Someday I will be brave

But for now

Im not brave

Im simply

Trying to get by

This is beautiful writing, especially because it resonates with many. Most people see how another would react in a situation, think about how they themselves would, then label themselves, 'not strong enough' not 'kind enough' or 'not brave enough.' Even if you believe you're not brave enough, you are, and hopefully you see that for yourself.

Love you girlie, and have a good day/night!

You are exactly right, you are brave. You are so brave, this poem proves it. Some people are cowards but think they’re brave, some people look at all their fears and freak out. But you looked at yourself and acknowledged your fears, you didn’t exaggerate or dismiss them. You looked at yourself, and maybe didn’t see what you wanted, but you were able to see that someday you COULD be who you wanted.

Anyway, other than message this was really beautiful, the pace was good and it felt really powerful. Great job, I really liked this!!
