The Demon At My Door Pt.3
Soon after that, Ember left. When she did, I cleaned up the main area before planning to go back to bed, throwing away the pizza box since Ember took the rest of the pizza. Hopefully she was safe and would remain that way. Once I wad finished cleaning up everything, I went back to my room, deciding to go to bed instead of returning to work on my writing since I was
exhausted after the events of the night.
In the morning, the sun eas shining through my windows, waking me up. Once I was finally awake enough, I got put of bed, stumbling a little as I do so. I stretched some when I stood up fully, my back popping some. I walked through the hall heading stright to the door outside. It’s my usual morning routine.
When I got out there, I saw smoke coming up from the tree tops. At first i was confused. Who would he out here in my woods? This is private property! Then it hit me- the hunter from last night. What was he doing here?! He should have left! It only took me a minute to decide what I was going to do-check it out.
I quickly went inside, grabbing ny bag and puttibg my phone inside after taking it off the charger. I also grabbed my pocket knife, just in case.
Instead if taking my car, I walked. My car would be loud, drawing attention. I didn’t want that. The less attention drawn to me, the better. Especially if its the hunter from last night. Luckily, the spot where the smoke was rising from wasn’t that far away so it didn’t take me long to find whoever there.
When I got to the clearing, I saw none other than the hunter from last night, of course. My eyes scanned the area, landing on a cage on the opposite side of where I was. Inside was something-or someone- lumped up, purple and black clothing covered them. Ember! If I was mad before it was nothing compared to what I was feeling bow. Rage flared inside me, a protective feeling now being triggered. The urge to rish in and kick ass had to be fought down. I couldn’t fo that. Not yet anyway. So instead of doing that, I went around the camp to was, waiting for the hunter to turn away.
