when the stars fell,

i was inside,

i didn’t know they were falling

until they crashed through the roof

fire swallowed my home

fire swallowed my family

now i won’t sleep,

i can’t sleep,

unless i can see the starless sky,

wide and open above my head,

the pinpricks of light are gone.

it’s almost pitch black now,

while the stars were falling i didn’t know

until it was too late,

maybe i’ll be able to do something

if they start to fall again.

that’s what i think,

until i remember that there are

no stars to fall
