We all look same in the dark
nobody is different
we all are the same
deep down
under all the masks we were forced to wear
under the makeup
the perfect images we started to create
for society.
nobody is different
when the world turns its back on us
when the sun chooses to sink
the moon hides behind the clouds
and everything that’s left
are broken images,
broken hopes,
broken humans.
we all look the same in the dark.
in the dark
when everyone is too tired to keep the illusion alive
right before closing your eyes
after a long day, finally coming home—
**that’s the moment.**
in the dark
when the sun refuses to shine
your family starts to be mean
your friends leave you behind
and when it’s just you
alone in the dark—
we all look the same.
the same dark circles under our eyes,
screaming for some rest.
the same messy hair,
after trying to fix it—
but you can’t even fix your mood,
let alone your life.
but if we all look the same
in the darkest times of our lives—
why is everyone so ridiculously mean?
when we all know, for a fact,
how deep words can cut,
how quickly the light in your life can fade.
we all look the same.
we’re all built the same:
a heart that can break,
a mind that makes mistakes,
a body that doesn’t have to be perfect—
and never will be.
so even if we don’t look the same in the sun,
just know:
when all the light fades,
when there’s nothing left but shadows,
there’s no difference between you and me.
in the dark,
we do look the same.
