POEM STARTER
Adelaide T. Everett
Write a poem that starts each new line with the last word of the last line.
For example: I love you so,
So I have to go.
My Dear Icarus
You brought me your broken wings.
Wings built from all your excuses,
Excuses glued together by false pride.
Pride is what ruined you.
You know? the one I once held so dear.
Dear beloved, my Icarus, whose eyes shone,
Shone like the sun that doomed you..
You gave away everything.
Everything we wanted.
Wanted..thats right, it’s all in the past.
Past mistakes and choices I hope haunt you still.
Still I miss the days when you were mine,
Mine to love and hold in the best of ways.
Ways I believed were gifted by fate,
Fate brought you to me.
Me, of everyone, though still I dont know why.
Why bring me your wings?
Wings broken and ruined,
Ruined yet still I tried.
Tried for you, I wanted to help,
Help you rise above the darkness.
Darkness that you often fought…
Fought you did as you were falling,
Falling..yet still I fell harder.
This is so good!
