Chateau

Perfect. That’s what her name meant. But no one knew that Camille couldn’t be further from that. She was undoubtedly beautiful, with golden waves, honeydew eyes, and a smile that got her everything she wanted. But beauty was a full-time job, and even workaholics needed a holiday sometimes. The first time she took one of her “holidays” was during the summer after her high school graduation. It had been harmless, really – just a trip to California with her friends, where she met a boy called Isaac. He had black fluffy hair, mischievous brown eyes, and a lopsided smile, wearing a leather jacket and driving around on his motorcycle, claiming he’d get rich one day. She fell for him. They were as different as day and night, bound to be together forever or tear each other into pieces. It turned out it would be both.

Isaac was wild. He took Camille to the most beautiful places in California, brought her along to parties and bars, made her do things she’d never dreamed of doing. They vandelized a cop car and went skinny dipping in the ocean, drunk of their asses. They shoplifted, snuck into bars… while she feared getting caught, Camille had never felt so alive. She’d never needed a person so much, never knew the insane rush the feeling she mistook for love could bring. So she went on with it, taking drugs, drinking underage, disappearing from collage until they kicked her out (which she vowed not to tell her parents) not wanting it to end. But it did, burnt down in a flaming wreck, leaving her in pieces. That lead to a restart, a promise to keep things light. It was on and off, the time between calls growing longer, but the feelings not fading.

Skip to six years later, Camille got a call as she was painting her nails on the wraparound porch. For some reason or other, she and Isaac had fallen out two or three months ago, but now he was back again. He told her he had a surprise, that she should grab her phone and a friend because he was about to take her on the trip of her life.

Camille hesitated as she put down the baby blue nail polish that matched the sundress she was wearing. The call brought back memories, both good and bad, making her shoulders tense. But as the motorcycle sped up the driveway, it all melted away, reminding her why she grew addicted to him in the first place. Because that’s what it was – not love, addiction. She needed him to survive, took every chance to get a taste, no matter how small, even though she knew it meant he’d leave her again, broken-hearted, drowning her sorrow in drugs and drenching it in alcohol.

Isaac was the reason she’d dropped out of college. For a second, she thought about leaving, about ridding herself of the toxic relationship they had, freeing her conscience and starting over clean… but when he took off his helmet and gave her his signature grin, she knew she couldn’t. Isaac held Camille’s life in his hands, the way it would always be, and she _hated_ it.

Note: hello.(I feel so ✨mysterious✨) I’m back with a name change!!! I felt like I should post something again and this was the only draft I deemed acceptable. I’ll probably rewrite this in the near future, but it’ll do for now. Isn’t my _favourite_ song, but it’s what I was listening too when I saw the promt. And it was mainly based on 0:41-1:07 if anyone was wondering.

QOTD: What book are you reading at the moment??

For everyone who needs to hear it: You’re awesome! Hope you have a great day :)
