POEM STARTER
Door shut tightly, might the monsters come.
Write a poem which ends with this line. You may wish to interpret the 'monsters’ metaphorically rather than literally.
Chapter 9
Breath
I shut and locked my door
So monsters like you won't get it
Monsters that's say I'm overreacting
When they know that makes it worse
Monsters that think that's how
Good parenting works
I'm not a stupid child
That should be able to control my feelings
You can't make a heartbeat stop
Unless there's blood on the floor
You can't stop my thinking
Unless my brain is in a jar
I love you, but you make it hard
Especially when I'm crying and you say just breath
Hah! Rather not. Thanks for the offer, though.
