POEM STARTER
Human souls are part of a pattern too large to see in each individual. Together, we form something greater than we can imagine.
Write a poem based on this idea. It can be loosely related, but should focus on the theme of individuals vs. togetherness.
A Crowd Of One
A single voice is quiet,
A crowd — cacophony,
And if I start a riot,
I want more there than me.
The individual is weak,
The masses have the power.
If change is what we truly seek,
Together we must flower.
A single tap left running,
Well that’s not a big deal.
Like a single ball of snow,
Slowly rolling down a hill.
A little bit of plastic,
A tiny bit of litter.
Whilst I’m enthusiastic,
I’m not Earth’s babysitter.
After all, I’m just one man,
What I do doesn’t matter.
In my glass house — stone in hand,
Hoping it doesn’t shatter.
