Wedding Ceremony
The countdown begins, three hours till the ceremony. My friend is getting ready in her room. It’s been a while since I saw her and her old clsssmate together in the same place. Ever since he moved away, they didn’t get to see each other. They went to the same program together where it would be a study abroad trip. They didn’t get a chance to say goodbye and yet here she is attending his wedding ceremony. Thirteen years past, but he still invited her and remembered about her. She moved on with her life and now has a boyfriend that she is happy with, her first relationship. She is not sure when she will get married to him since they have been with each other for 3 three years now. Her friend is getting married to the guy that she liked before he moved away. It was heartbreaking for her to see him move away because they have gotten so close together and were close friends. She would confide in him, they had similarities and would be best buddies together. She had a secret though. She actually loved him. The more she spent time with him, the more she learned about him and saw what a good guy he was. But she couldn’t tell him. She liked his girlfriend as her own friend and respected her and she respected her guy friend as well. She understood that after he moved away. She was only left with memories. Here she is standing today as the guest of her friend from school. He invited her and all the other classmates that attended. I am just her support friend that came to be with her because I knew she had feelings for this guy but she is choosing his happiness. In two hours the wedding will start. She will need to let go of him for good now. I saw her walk to the aisle seat. The wedding will start soon. She walks up to the bride, who is getting ready and already wearing her dress. She smiles and says, “ you look so beautiful! I’m so happy for you”. Gives the bride a hug and the bride replies, “ thank you so much! and thank you for coming! Long time no see”. My friend waves the bride goodbye and says,” see you at the reception!” She walks away and closes the door. Heads to the aisle seat and the ceremony is about to start. The groom walks down the aisle. My friend looks at him with a happy expression on her face and I can see she is starting to have tears in her eyes. The groom looks at all the guests and gives them a warm smile and nod as saying it’s good to see you, thank you for coming. He notices my friend and they both lock eyes at one another for about two seconds. My friend told me that they used to gaze into eachothers eyes when talking. Did he secretly have a crush on my friend? Anyways the groom continues down the path and then sees his bride. His eyes light up with a gaze of longing and love and she walks down the aisle. My friend constantly staring at the two of them together. I wonder what my friend is thinking. I hold her hand because I think it would be hard to see them together although she is happy for them both. My friend cries. It looks like they are happy tears or sad tears. The couple say their I do’s and the ceremony has ended. Time to greet everyone. My friend rushes up to the groom. “ Brad, congratulations! And then to the bride, “ Congratulations to the both of you”. He approaches my friend,” it’s so good to see you again, thank you for coming” my friend smiles. “ I wouldn’t miss it,and I’m really glad I made it, I wish you all the best!” She then says,” unfortunately, this is where we say our good byes, I won’t be able to attend the reception, but I hope you guys have a good time!, hope to see you again soon”. She approaches the groom,” I wish you all the best. And then she turns to the bride, “ you look beautiful and you look so beautiful together. Congratulations!” She then gives them both a quick hug and walks away. She runs to the bathroom and starts crying. I follow after her, “ are you okay”. I say. Her makeup has rubbed a bit, and says, “ it was hard to watch the wedding, but I’m really happy for them and I wish them truly all the best”. I embrace my friend and smile saying, “ it’s time for you to move on my friend and today is the day for a new beginning”. My friend smiles and wipes her tears and nods her head. She then gets a phone call. It’s her boyfriend. He’s on his way to pick us pick. He comes bringing flowers to my friend. They meet outside. She is so happy and goes to run to him. He steps down on one knee and says, “ we’ve known each other for so long now. I know today is a hard day for you but I can see how much you care and love your friends. Your heart has truly moved on and you have accepted me into your heart. I love you and I want to be with you. Will you marry me?” My friend smiles and for a second doesn’t say anything she then replies saying,” today I begin a new chapter and you are the start of it, yes I will marry you”. They both kiss and give each other a hug. I see that my friend is truly happy and then I say “Congratulations to you guys!!” And I give my friend a big hug. It’s funny how life works sometimes but I am truly happy she can move on and find happiness.
