STORY STARTER
Write a scene where two characters are on a terrible date.
Valentines Date
The night had been far from perfect so far.
Emily arrived at the restaurant late, where her girlfriend had already been waiting for half an hour. The waiter hadn’t seated them in the Valentines room, because he thought they were “just friends” .
Later, he tripped and spilled a glass of red wine all over her new white dress, meaning she had to drag Valerie out who was threatening to sue the place into the ground where it belonged. They had to go buy a new outfit for Emily to change into and bring the dress to the dry cleaners, making them miss most of their movie. And, to make matters worse, they still hadn’t eaten, leading to them sitting in the parking lot of a nearby supermarket, drinking slurpees and fries from a nearby drive thru, giggling like crazy.
“Emmy?”
“Yeah?”
“I’m sorry about tonight. It was supposed to be perfect and, well…” she gestured around the dark car park and the drinks, slowly melting into two cups of blue sugary goo, water pearls forming on the outside of the thin plastic cups.
Emily shook her head, smiling.
“Val, stop. It might not be what we planned, but that doesn’t make it less perfect. We’re both here, spending time together, without homophobic waiters or restaurants where you can’t hear yourself speak. All I wanted was to be with you today, and I am, so I could care less that these fries are cold and we’re in a parking lot, okay?”
Valerie cocked her head slightly as she listend.
“You mean it?”
Emily kissed her forehead softly.
“I do. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
“Thank you for taking me on the worst valentines date ever.”
“You’re welcome.”
Note: as always, I don’t proofread. Continuing my horrid dedication schedule (I feel that everything has to be perfect before it’s dedicated), this is for Jaylee, Happy belated birthday :)
