They sat on the boat, eyes fixed on the light ahead, the boat swaying in time with the lapping waves. The mist clouded everywhere apart from the lighthouse that served as a small beacon of hope, a waterfall of light spotlighting the ship.

Valen and Ebony sat beside each other, Valen’s eyes wide with excitement and Ebony’s narrowed with suspicion.

“Another lighthouse. How very convenient.” She muttered.

“It’s really…” he clicked his fingers, trying to find the right word.

“Revolting”, she chimed in.

He glared at her, “not quite what I was thinking.”

“No?” She shrugged, “then enlighten me. What were you thinking?”

“I was gonna say hope envoking…”

She chuckled, “you’re so naive.”

“You act as if it will eat us if we get close.” Valen commented.

Ebony crossed her arms, “sounds likely enough.”
