POEM STARTER

Human souls are part of a pattern too large to see in each individual. Together, we form something greater than we can imagine.

Write a poem based on this idea. It can be loosely related, but should focus on the theme of individuals vs. togetherness.

Solo

If forever ends up as never,

Then together will too,

Because when tides pull tight,

It won’t be bright.

When think becomes know,

You can thank the room.

As you aren’t the only,

Who was left with less than a pony.

Twenty acres and a mule,

Left to be a fool.

We still remain together,

As no one understands more than each other.

They laugh and pull the corners of their eyes,

Mocking our price.

But in the end we are most favored,

Will our reputation always be wavered?

Pale skin and blue pupils,

At least to the standard’s doodles

Between hated and loved,

No one would be beloved.

Latino or Hispanic, they don’t care,

We’re brown and a toy to pair.

I guess we’ll stand together,

As we will always tether.
