Chapter 3
(New Viewpoint! The Phantom)
They docked their ship. Unknowingly.
“Grant him this relief.” The voice says.
I nod. Tension rising as my limbs move against my will.
I follow the man, turning around a corner he gets slammed to a wall. Confronted by two men. One small and weasely, the other large and muscular.
“Hide.”
So I do.
I clip my gauntlets to my wrists, utilizing the steam powered grappling hook. Causing a burst of hot air to release itself.
“Wait.”
I lurk in the shadows.
The weasel and the muscle continue to interrogate my target. Finally the man escapes, creating a burst of magic. He runs from the alley.
“Wait.”
The men start talking, thinking they are safe. But they aren’t.
I send my grapple through the weasel man’s leg. He staggers as I use him to take me to the ground.
My grapples snap back and out come my Spring Blades.
The muscular man takes a swing at me, but I dodge, slam my blade down, and slice into his chest.
He cries out as my Spring Blades clunk back into my gauntlets.
“Time for the third weapon Muse.” The voice screams into my head
I swipe my Oilskin coat and turn the gauge that powers these higher.
Needle guns shoot out.
“Now get your information.”
The two men back up against the wall. Staring at me fearfully. I look at myself in a puddle, my mask is covered in oil and probably blood.
“What did you say to the man.” I say finally, my voice gravely and deep.
“We just wanted our pay, he owed us money. That’s all. He said he had to go after that. To-to the moon shop over there.” The weasel sputters.
My lenses sharpen on my mask. I can see the footsteps of my target. My footprints and the others mess it up, slightly. But in all this chaos, there is calculation.
“Go.” I growl to the men.
I use my grapples to hoist myself up, following the footsteps from above. Citizens of this border city rumble through the streets. I get to the moon shop. It’s called a moon shop because it only sells one thing. Counters to magical things or curses.
My target walks out, right on cue.
He itches his wrist.
“Wait, and you will get your reward.”
So I do.
“Watch your self. You’ll never be safe from me, Saelan of Caelora.” I whisper into the night. And I disappear into the shadows.

This chapter is short as it’s meant to be, it’s supposed to be snappy, and like an interlude. But this character is one of my favorites that I’ve written so far. So expect to see more! Thanks for reading!
