WRITING OBSTACLE
Write the climax of a murder mystery story without any reference to the victim or the crime itself.
The climax can be defined as the point in the story with the highest tension and stakes. How will you drive the story without mentioning the crime?
The Expected Unexpected
The rain crashed against and ricocheted off of the pavement.
The original amount of commotion had been amplified by a hundred. People were running in every direction possible while screaming and shouting like their lives depended on it.
I stayed still. Solitary as a soldier on guard. Although it was loud around me, i was at peace; my thoughts were at peace for the first time in a long time.
I watched as the clear pure rain turned into an evil crimson. If screaming and shouting like children being told they weren’t allowed to get an ice cream by their parents did decide if someone lived or died id be dead, just like the woman i once knew that laid before me.
Suddenly i felt a slight tap on my shoe and shoulder at the same time. It was still raining i could see that but the rain wasn’t touching me anymore that wasn’t what was tapping me. I looked down to see a horrified face staring beyond my shoulder. I turned around frantically but there was no one behind me. I spun around again and looked at all of the people on the street who had switched the direction they was running in to away from me. I felt another tap on my shoulder this one felt like metal; instinctively i lifted my hands and did a 360. There was nobody there again. I shook my head and convinced myself i was in shock only to then hear a bang and to see my white shirt turning crimson just like the rain.
