POEM STARTER
Write a poem titled “You Never Asked, But…”
Unsaid sentiments may be a prominent theme in this poem.
You never asked
You never asked but,
I've learned quite a few things I'd like to share.
I wouldn't say I'm scared,
but I've learned now,
that the world isn't always nice.
the punch didn't land,
but now I know
that girls can hurt,
their bark worse than their bite.
don't believe them when they say I'm broken,
though that's at least partially true,
but I promise I'm sort of strong.
Don't believe them when they say they aren't at fault,
they don't know how much pain they caused,
but I'm trying to move along.
I've learned the world can be so kind,
yet so cruel,
leaving me battered and beat,
dying but not dead,
wishing I was someone else instead.
so I beg of you,
give me mercy,
when I finally break down and cry.
were all on this earth,
and you need to learn,
that we're all just trying.
