I awoke with a start. My teacher’s hawklike eyes boring into my skull. “If your mom makes 10 pancakes a second, how many are in the roof?” she questioned. “Can you repeat that again?” I asked. “IF. YOUR. MOM. MAKES. TEN. RUGS. A. SECOND-“ “how does my mom makes ten rugs a second?” I interrupted. The class burst out laughing. The teacher just shook her head,”Words are wasted on those who don’t listen.” It sounded like an old Shakespearean quote, but then again, my teacher was just built like that. “Detention, a paragraph on what you did wrong.” *sigh*
