I open my eyes. I didn’t sleep well last night. I know what this day is. I have known for one week. I am going to cook you steak for breakfast I know it’s your favorite. Food has been hard for you lately so I wonder if you’re going to be able to eat. As soon as I give it to you and turn to clean the pan, I hear you finishing it up. Man that was fast. Let’s go for a walk and let’s make it a long one and your picking where!

The walk starts and the park is where you’re heading and heading there slowly. It’s a nice day as I look upon your coat. Man you’re beautiful I think. We walk for a couple of hours but I see you’re getting tired, so we head back. God I don’t want to go back. I know what going back means and you can sense my feelings, I know it.

As we get closer to home I start to cry. You turn and bump your head into my leg to let me know everything is going to be okay. The vet arrives, why did he have to be on time.

It’s your last day and it’s my last day with you. You mean everything to me, for 17 years you have been by my side. I grew up next to you and you grew old with me. All the memories we had I will cherish until I pass. You’re the best dog of my life. You’re the best friend ever. I will miss you forever.
