POEM STARTER
Submitted by Robin Marlowe
Write a poem about unseasonable weather. e.g. A warm day in the winter, or snow in the summer.
Elements to Freedom
The heat, beating on my fettered mind,
demanding nights spent on my knees
crying from my cage of perfection blind,
yet afraid to cry.
then…
The cold, a sudden blast of icy doom
and chilly dread, knowing I was lost
knocked on my soul through the iron room.
Heart cracking,an egg about to deliver new life
then…
The rain. washing all the evil stains away,
like the remnants of a tainted meal slipping down the drain.
The Father heard his child pray.
Surrendered peace was born as angels sang.
and now…
The warmth, a life redeemed, a burning desire,
a living sacrafice to one who holds the keys
for every soul tormented in the hounding fire
of striving to attain that which can only be bought with the blood of the one who saves.
