Two Roads
Two roads forked in front of me
With indiscernible destinations
Hidden in a heavy haze.
To the right,
Veiled in fog,
Warning signs
And stones already turned
Lined a straight paved path of
So-so stability.
The safety of the status quo
Sang steady,
Its same siren song
Feeding my fear,
Inviting me to irrationally indulge,
Moving me to maintain
The mediocre monotony
Of a dead-end life.
To the left,
The shroud strangled the light
From a snaking trail that led
Nowhere
And
Everywhere
Simultaneously.
From its dense fog came
Silence.
A thick,
Suffocating
Silence.
The quiet calm,
With its masked possibilities
And infinite potential,
Pulled at me,
Prying me from
A future fate
Of faithful failure.
I stepped forward into the fog,
Gambling on the unfamiliar,
Going all-in
On a life unknown.
