STORY STARTER
“Drop the gun; I’m here for you.”
Write a romance story which includes this line of speech. Your plot doesn't have to revolve around this moment, but it should be included in a logical way.
Seeing Red
“Drop the gun; I’m here for you.” I hear a voice. A girl’s, no doubt. I turn to her, pointing the gun in her direction, at her chest. My vision is blurred to where I can’t see her face but I can see her put her hands up, palms facing me.
“Don’t come closer. I can and will shoot if you do.” My voice is surprisingly firm, despite everything. I see her move a step closer and my finger moves over the trigger of the steel gun.
“Nyx, this isn’t you.” She says my name. Who is this person to know my name? I start to tremble slightly, finally feeling the searing pain within my ankle. I’m starting to gain feeling of my surroundings and body, including the blood running down from a throbbing cut on my face. This time when the person moves, she moves quickly and smoothly, pushing the gun out of my way, pointing it to the floor. I want to bring the gun up again, but I can’t, shes holding it down.
“Nyx, I love you but I don’t know what I would think if I got shot by my own girlfriend.” My eyes widen and I look up at her, finally seeing who it is.
“R-Rosie…?” I spoke, my voice barely above a whisper, trembling like my body is. I felt her hand cup my face, thumb brushing my cheek.
“Yeah, it’s me.” She pulls me into a kiss and I drop my gun, surrendering.
