Time’s up

I could feel my eyes brimming with tears as the deranged man in front of me struck me with his fist again. I winced and staggered back, grasping at the ledge to steady myself. I briefly looked over my shoulder and shuddered. How did I end up on the roof of a high-rise building with this psycho again? The whole night was a blur, I could barely remember the events that lead up to this moment.

I refocused my attention back on the man in front of me. He was a tall, slender man with bloodshot eyes and a devilish grin. He stared at me like I was his next meal. I gulped, and shuffled my feet farther away from him trying to escape. Every step I took sent a searing pain through my whole body - This guy has broken and bruised me in so many ways. I needed to get away, now.

Suddenly, he threw his head back and let out a shrill laugh - the kind that makes chills run down your spine. Before I knew it, the man was standing right in front of me again. He grabbed my hair and forcefully pulled it back, making my chin jut out painfully. “Where do you think you’re going, princess?” He asked mockingly. The tears kept rolling down my face. I couldn’t take it anymore. “Please, just stop. You got what you wanted, right? Please just let me go free,” I begged him. He raised an eyebrow in response, “Oh? But I’m having so much fun right now. Aren’t you?” He grinned showing all his teeth. I stared back into his lifeless eyes and shook my head, fearing for what he would do next.

His smiled vanished and suddenly he grabbed me by the collar and threw me to the ground like a rag doll. My head struck the ground first and I felt my vision start to blur. “Please… don’t kill me,” I managed to say between panicked breaths. The man approached me as I lay on the ground and positioned his foot on my throat. “Why shouldn’t I?” He asked coyly. My head was spinning, and I struggled to gather my thoughts.“Because… I’m too young to di—“ He began putting more pressure on my neck, cutting off the airflow. Chuckling, he raised his hand to cuff his ear, “Sorry, what was that?” He pushed harder and I began flailing my arms, fighting for air. Meanwhile, I could hear him laughing again. I clawed at his shoes trying to peel them off but they wouldn’t budge.

“What’s wrong? Aren’t you going to say anything? At this rate you really will die young!” There was an excited tone in his voice that made me feel sick. Slowly, his voice started to fade away and my vision became more and more clouded. Eventually, everything went black.

Author note: Well, I didn’t write much dialogue convincing the bad guy to keep my character alive. I just wanted to try my hand at writing something dark. I need to go look at cute cat pics now.
