Cornered: The Beginning

*Chapter four and more!*

Chapter 4; Enrolled

** **I heard knocking on my door. I knew it couldn’t have been my family, they all had keys. I looked out the window of my bedroom only to see what I shall now call the problem duo (Sam and June). I slammed my computer shut and ran downstairs.

“What are you two doing here so early?” I questioned as I pulled the door open.

“We came to hang out! We have nothing else to do,” June answered almost immediately.

“Okay, come in,” I told them.

“What are you doing?” June asked as I ran back to my bedroom. June began to follow me, then Sam. They sat on my bed beside each other.

“Getting you enrolled in my school,” I explained as I began to hack into my school’s website to enroll the problem duo.

“Why do we have to go to school,” Sam sounded absolutely disgusted.

My eyes broke from my computer screen. “Would you rather play video games all day?” I asked.

“Yes,” Sam replied as he began to frown in thought, “no.” It seemed as if two sides of him were fighting.

“Exactly,” I said with a smug grin. I knew my friends well. I knew Sam’s answer would be “no”. After all, I am pretty good at analyzing people and their behaviors. My eyes went back to my computer as I continued to type on the application for my school. “Okay, and I am done. You two are officially students at my school! Don’t you dare ask how I got you enrolled,” my voice got quieter as I said the last sentence. They did not need to know that I was a hacker.

“Cool!” June’s eyes seemed to light up.

“Yeah, yeah,” Sam rolled his eyes in what seemed to be annoyance.

“Now that I’m done with that, I am going to teach you some of the materials we are learning in class. First, do you know how to do algebra?” I questioned.

“What is algebra?” Sam raised one eyebrow.

“I will teach you in a moment, but do you know Shakespeare?” I inquired.

“Yes, I love his works!” June replied with a toxic amount of enthusiasm.

“I only know about Shakespeare because of this nerd,” Sam nudged June and smiled.

“Hey, I’m not a nerd,” June furrowed her eyebrows but then laughed.

“Well then I should begin teaching you two algebra,” I said.

Chapter 5; To The Market We Go!

“Are we done yet?” Sam whined.

“Yes, we are finished!” I told the problem duo.

“Yay,” Sam sighed as he fell back onto my bed.

“That was a lot harder than I thought it would be,” June admitted. She too laid down onto my bed.

“I’m going to do the school work I missed, my teachers posted it on Google Classroom. You two can rest,” I then left the room to grab a pen and some paper. I then came back to my room and sat at my desk. I was thankful that part of the time I was absent was the beginning of Thanksgiving break, otherwise I would have had a lot more work to do.

I woke up with my head on my desk. I fell asleep doing my work.

“Hello!” June spoke cheerfully with a bright smile. I screamed in shock.

“Oh, it's just you,” I sighed in relief.

“What was that,” Sam was cracking up.

“I get easily scared, okay!” I crossed my arms and frowned.

“I can tell,” Sam’s laughing still hadn’t died down.

“I’m sorry it’s just so funny!” I could tell Sam was silently laughing and I gave him an annoyed look.

“Do you want to learn more algebra?” I threatened.

“No!” Sam’s eyes were filled with fear. I quietly laughed, he was scared of math!

“Wait… isn’t tomorrow Thanksgiving?” June interrupted.

“Yes, and?” Sam questioned.

“We have to prepare and decorate!” I exclaimed.

“Let’s go to the market to buy some food,” June says.

“Won’t we have to defrost the turkey, we don’t have enough time for that,” Sam had a confused look.

“I’m a witch, don’t you think I can defrost it with a spell?” June looked at Sam with a disappointed look.

Chapter 6; Preparation

“Okay that was the last thing on our list! Let’s head back to my house to start preparing for Thanksgiving,” I stated.

“Let’s go!” June was skipping towards my house.

After a few minutes we had arrived home. June had looked up a spell to defrost a turkey on her phone. She began to cast the spell she had found. Once June was finished casting the spell the turkey was defrosted.

“We’ve defrosted the turkey, but does anyone know how to cook?” Sam asked. There was a long silence.

“Shall I use my spells to cook all the food?” June suggested.

“If you don’t mind, please,” I said.

“Okay, give me 30 minutes to an hour to prepare it all,” June told me and Sam.

“I’m going to go decorate. Sam, you can join me if you want,” I stated.

“I think it would be better if I stayed here to make sure June doesn’t burn down your house,” Sam responded.

“Good idea,” I laughed a little bit.

“Hey, I’m not that destructive!” June frowned.

“Yeah, sure,” Sam’s tone was filled with sarcasm.

I started walking to the basement. I grabbed the autumn decorations and went to the dining room. I dug through the bin and found some tinsel to hang and a cute banner saying “Happy Thanksgiving”. I kept putting up decorations for another hour or so.

“I’m finally done!” I said as I hopped down from the chair I was standing on. “Too bad we don’t have a ladder. That would have made decorating so much easier.”

“Oh my gosh!” I heard June yell. I ran to see what was going on. I looked to the stove to see water. Water that was burning.

“How in the world did you manage to set water on fire?!?!” Sam yelled back.

“I don’t know. But how do I fix it?” June asked

“Don’t you know some sort of reverse spell?” I questioned.

“Oh, yeah,” June calmed down and said her spell. The water was back to normal!

“Good call staying with June,” I began to laugh.

“I didn’t even know you could burn water. Just normal, plain water,” Sam was laughing so hard he was crying.

“Honestly, I don’t even know what I did!” At that point even June was laughing.

“How is the food coming along?” I asked.

“Good! We just have to find a spell for the cranberry sauce,” June presented all of the food.

“Nice,” I commented.

“Oh, June! I found a spell. Here,” Sam handed June a book of spells.

“Thanks,” June said before she did the spell.

“That is so, so, so COOL!” I practically shouted. I mean, wouldn’t you find it cool if normal cranberries were turned into a sauce within seconds?

“I know right!” Sam agreed. His smile widened as he looked at the cranberry sauce and then June. June simply smiled back at us.

“Magic is cool, but friendship is cooler!” June spoke warmly. I felt my smile get brighter as I looked around to see food, decorations, and my best friends.

“You’re right,” Sam looked to June.

“Oh! We should probably head to our apartment now,” June stated.

“See you tomorrow!” I waved goodbye.

“Goodbye,” The problem duo said in unison.
