Lorvashii's pov
PRESENT-- 4 YEARS AFTER THE FIRST ENCOUNTER
I crushed Ace in a huge hug.
Gosh, I missed him.
I held him tight. He held me tighter. I never wanted to let go. But everything ends eventually. I do have fuming humans after me after I killed a few agents and stole a spaceship.
Ace didn't need to know that yet though. I finally released him from the hug and he had tears in his eyes.
"Lorvashii?"
I laughed feeling tears in my eyes now too. "Ace?"
He laughed too, in spite of everything.
"I-- You-- How?"
I snuggled my head into the crook of his neck. "I don't actually know. I remember getting shot and you were screaming and you were escorted away and-- I don't remember anything else."
He nodded and said, "And what about the spaceship, you stole?"
He knew? Well there goes trying to stay under the radar. "It's outside. Probably very damaged."
I nodded to his door. I took in his house for the first time. It wasn't too big but it was luxurious. Marble floors, pristine kitchen, huge couch, and big windows. Big windows where you can see the smoke coming from the spaceship.
I suddenly became very worried that he was going to shame me for what I've done to get to him.
But honestly? He didn't look bothered at all. He just looked so glad. I gave him another hug and he immediately hugged back. I did move my head back to take a look at his face. He had circles under his eyes now like his sister, Alisa, used to. He has a small growing beard now. It suited him. He looked so tired though. Ace was the president of the United States so I wondered why he was living here.
"Ace, how long was I in a coma? And what has changed?"
He sighed and sat down on his couch. I sat next to him and watched him rub a hand through his hair.
"2 years."
I let that sink in. 2 years? That felt like so little time, but Ace made it seem like it was forever. It went by fast for me since I was in a coma. I can't imagine what Ace has gone through. I don't speak and let him continue.
"I didn't speak at all after I thought that you... That you were gone. I didn't have the need to speak. I was depressed and Alisa took over as president for me. It was better for America anyways."
He paused and I signaled him to go on. He looked nervous to say this next part. "When your father found out that you died he declared war on earth. Earth has been losing supplies and losing in general."
My jaw dropped. I'm mad. No, I'm furious with my father. How could he declare war on Earth just because he thought that I died? He knows that Ace would never kill me or do anything bad to me. It was just one person who decided to kill me. And it's not like the government knew this would happen. But the humans could have told my father I was alive at any point...
"Why'd they keep it a secret?"
Ace shrugs, "I really have no clue. I mean they didn't tell me anything. No one. There must have been a reason they kept a secret."
I nod, "They could have prevented my father from going to war in the first place."
We catch up for a couple minutes until Ace's phone starts going haywire. He turns it off. I'm tempted to ask what that was but he beats me to it.
"Alisa again. She is probably warning me about you."
"Well I did kill 16 agents."
He actually laughs at that. Like it was funny. It wasn't. I felt really bad once I looked back and saw who it was. I was just so scared when I woke up and I didn't know where I was. I didn't really want to kill my boyfriend's agents. Or my boyfriend's sister's agents now.
We shared a minute of silence. Taking in that the other one was really there.
Then suddenly there were loud noises that sounded like a jet landing. Ace sits up straight and hurriedly looks out the windows.
He looks at me and pulls me off the couch. "It's the government. They've come for you."
"Well maybe you can--"
"No. I guarantee you that they won't listen to me. Do you think that spaceship you stole will still work?"
"Yeah it will still fly, but I don't see why we can't just--"
"Please Lorvashii. I don't want them to take you away again."
When he dropped that line I found myself letting him drag me upstairs. We went into a small room with a bunch of pictures from his childhood. The ones I could get a glance of was him as a toddler with a bunch of food on his face. "Aw--"
"Come on Lorvashii," he whispered. He opened a window at the same time I heard the door from downstairs open. It seemed thousands of feet were pounding downstairs. He got onto the roof by the window and I climbed out with him.
“We gotta jump and run fast,” Ace breathed. He gave me a wary smile.
"Then we should go to my father. I can convince him to stop this war."
Ace didn't look so sure but he nodded.
"We jump on three, Lorvashii. One."
The footsteps were getting louder.
"Two."
Shouting came from the house. "WE KNOW YOUR IN HERE!"
"Thr--" I jumped way before Ace. He was right behind me though. We both sprinted to the smoking spaceship. I quickly lowered the boarding latch and we both got in. As it was closing we saw more people running towards us.
One of them was Alisa. She did not look happy. The ship got in the air and it started backing up, but the latch hasn't closed all the way yet. Some agents were trying to jump to get the deck but they couldn't reach.
Alisa made eye contact with Ace and shouted, "YOU WILL REGRET THIS, ACE!"
One of the agents pulled out a gun and loaded it quickly. Alisa turned to that agent and looked almost more angry and surprised when she saw the gun. "LOWER YOUR WEAPON! YOU CAN'T SHOO--"
BOOM!
I stood there stunned from the sudden noise of the gun. I couldn't move
BOOM!
"LOWER YOUR WEAPON!"
BOOM!
Ace tackled me to the ground. I didn’t black out—not exactly. But everything blurred. My ears rang, my vision went white, and for a second I wasn’t sure I was still alive.
BOOM!
Ace was saying something to me as we laid on the floor of the spaceship. I started hyperventilating. I'm alive, I told myself. Ace is alive too. We are fine. Everything is fine.
BOOM!
The latch finally closed.
Ace was humming in my ear. It was the song he used to hum when I couldn’t sleep. Back in the White House. Back when peace didn’t feel like a fairy tale.
I opened my eyes.
He stopped humming.
Ace had a very soft look in his eyes. "You're okay."
I took a deep breath. I was okay. And we needed to talk to my father. I got up. He just watched me from the floor. I put in the directions for my father's spaceship.
Ace got up and told me he was going to get rid of the US tracking device on the spaceship.
I was going to stop a war.
6 HOURS LATER
"You would think a spaceship would be a little faster than this," Ace mumbled into a pillow he found on the spaceship.
We were so close to my father's ship. So close. I missed my father even though it seemed that I was only asleep for a night.
Ace and I spent the time catching up. It was his 31st birthday, after all. I rummaged the ship's kitchen for a cake. I found ice cream instead.
I couldn't stop thinking about what the world had done while I was asleep. And since it had been 2 years that meant... "My little sister must've been born by now huh?"
Ace looked up at me and grinned. "I haven't talked to anyone for years but I do keep up with the news. Everyone on the internet adores your little sister."
I sit up with very much anticipation. "What's her name?"
"Zirelli."
I repeated this name. It was pretty. I had always dreamed of a little sister. She was probably 1 and half by now. I was very sad I had missed her first moments. I wanted to be there.
Ace turned his phone around and showed me pictures that people on the internet had snapped. She looked like.. my mom. Yes, she was only 1 but the resemblance was there. My mom had darker purple skin then my dad, me, and my brothers. She also had fuller lips. Zirelli looked exactly like her.
The last time I saw my mom she was sick and pregnant. I hope that she didn't-- You know, I'm not gonna think about that.
THUD.
I look up from Ace's phone and find myself grinning like Ace usually does. You know. Like an idiot.
"We're here!" Ace sung. He helped me up and we got to the front of our spaceship and connected our speaking lines with my father's spaceship.
"Who is asking for clearance to board Xen’dural the Great's ship?"
I recognized this voice. My baby brother, Ravion. The second youngest of my family. Well third youngest now. I was so excited to meet my baby sister.
Before Ace could screw anything over with my family I answered. "It's me, Rav."
I heard a bunch of things falling to the ground and a lot of fumbling. "LORVASHII?"
I heard a robotic voice speak, "GIVING CLEARANCE NOW."
It took a minute or two for our ships to combine so we could walk to the other ship without losing air. Ace let down our latch and on the other side I saw my baby brother. His grin was wide and he started jumping up and down. He looked so much older. He was 14 now.
"IT IS YOU!" He ran to me and I met him halfway. We collided and hit the floor, laughing like kids again.
Another voice entered the room. "RAV! What is going--"
"Lorvashii is back!"
Kreel my youngest brother filled the room. Kreel was 7 now. Behind him was the brother older than Rav. Maltren. 23 now. Oh my baby brothers were growing up so fast.
"Lorvashii?" Maltren asked in confusion. "Rav, Lorvashii is de--" He saw me. Kreel was already jumping on top of me and Rav.
Maltren just stood there. His hand was on his mouth and he looked like he was going to cry. I gently pushed Kreel and Rav off me. I stood up and walked toward Maltren. He wouldn't make eye contact with me.
I heard him sniffle a few times. I wrapped my arms around him. He melted into my embrace and his tears were coming. After a little while when he calmed down he told me, "I thought you were dead. You died and---" He started sobbing again.
"Shhh. It's okay."
He wiped his tears and said shakily "Lorvashii, Syriac he.. He..."
Yes Syriac. My twin brother. I was still older than him. Three minutes. We were 30 now. I was wondering where my twin was. The last time I saw Syriac, he was trying to teach Kreel how to throw a spear. He missed and nearly hit Ravion in the foot. We laughed for ten minutes straight. Now I’d give anything just to hear that laugh again.
But now I was worried. Maltren didn't look happy about what he was about to say.
"Syriac he.. He died in battle a few days ago. He.. Is.. Is he alive too?" My little brother sounded 5 years old again.
I blinked and had some tears. I had some feeling someone in my family had passed. I can't believe it was my twin though. I was heartbroken but I had to comfort Maltren. Maltren and Syriac both served in our military. Along with Syriac's wife.
Maltren probably saw Syriac die. Watching someone die is harder than learning about it.
I pulled him back into a hug and whispered, "No. No, I'm sorry Maltren."
He sobbed some more and it was very silent until Rav said, "What is he doing here?" I looked up to see Rav pointing accusingly at Ace. I slowly let go of Maltren and responded to Rav with a sad laugh. I walked over to Ace and put a hand on his shoulder.
"Ace thought I was dead too. They lied to him."
"Oh." Rav thought about that for a second then he must've decided Ace was worthy again. He nodded to Kreel and they tackled Ace in a hug.
Ace laughed, "I missed you guys too."
Everyone started laughing. Even Maltren was laughing now. Then we were silenced by a, "BOYS!"
My brothers all stood up super fast and saluted. My father was walking down the latch off his spaceship. He had a brown walking cane now. He hadn't even looked at me yet. He looked at each of my brothers very closely. First Kreel, then Rav, and Maltren. He stopped at Maltren. He narrowed his eyes and said, "Boy, have you been crying?" There wasn't really any compassion in my father's voice. War always does this to my father.
I could tell Maltren was trying to keep it together but a tear ran down his face and my father looked ready to slap him but Maltren ran over to my arms and started sobbing again.
That's when my father saw me. He dropped his cane. "Lorvashii." My father started wobbling but Ace helped him before he fell and grabbed his cane. My father's eyes narrowed again at Ace but then looked back at me and back at him. My father softened his eyes at Ace and said, "Thank you." His attention never really went back to Ace. I signaled for Rav and Kreel to come hold Maltren. They did and I got up. I faced my father.
He put his hands on my cheeks and said my name again. "My girl. You've come home."
Tears slid down my face and I gave him a gentle hug careful not to hurt him.
Then I turned serious and said, "Father, we have to talk."
2 HOURS LATER
After an hour or two of arguing and explaining my father finally agreed to stop the war. Only if the humans did too.
Ace didn’t hesitate. ‘I’m not president anymore—but Alisa might listen to me."
We unhooked the US spaceship a while ago just in case they found a way to track it again. So now I was settling into my old room I would use when we were traveling. Kreel hasn't left my side. Whether he was clinging to my leg as I walked or cuddling with me while I rested from the day.
Even though Kreel is so much younger he changed since I last saw him. He didn't talk as much. I figured it was because of the deaths.
When Kreel finally fell asleep on my bed I carried him to his room and said goodnight to Rav. I stopped by Maltren's room but Ace was in there too. They were sitting on the edge of Maltren's bed and Ace was saying softly, "I know what it's like. You'll get it eventually."
Maltren's hands were covering his face. He mumbles something like, "I know its really dumb but I just--"
"No its not dumb. I promise you it's not. I went through the exact same thing."
"But how do I tell her?" Tell who? I was very curious about what they were talking about.
"Listen when I met your sister I was just like this. You'll figure it out eventually. And since it's Alisa I could probably put in a good word for you."
Ace wiggled his eyebrows and Maltren laughed into his hands.
"You probably think it's weird though because it's your sister."
"Nope. Love is love." Ace grinned.
Maltren pushed him and Ace laughed harder.
" 'Night Maltren."
"Goodnight, Ace."
Ace got up and walked through the door. When he saw me he put a finger to his lips and pulled me farther away so Maltren wouldn't hear.
"What was that about, Ace?" I whispered
Ace grinned and whispered back, "I'm not really supposed to tell you."
I groaned, "Why?"
"Because it's a secret that your brother has bestowed on me."
I roll my eyes and say, "Tell me."
"Fine but if he gets mad I will have to blame it on you."
I raise a eyebrow.
"He's been secretly meeting up with my sister for a couple weeks and he came to me for advice."
"Aww."
"I know!" Ace whispers shouts.
We both smile at each other. We hug and say goodnight. I walk into Maltren's room and he is still sitting on the edge of his bed. We hugged and talked for a bit and then I left to go to my father's room.
I walk down the hallway and knock on his door.
"Come in," says a new voice. Young and girly. My face lights up and I open the door and...
My new sister is sitting on my father's desk. Zirelli. She waves. I know she doesn't know who I am but I sure know her.
My father is asleep on his bed and mother is actually there watching Zirelli. Mother cries and hugs me for a while. Then Zirelli and me introduce ourselves. I tell her to call me Lo-Lo.
"For a 1 year old you are very polite," I quietly laughed at Zirelli thanking my mother for a cookie.
My mother explains that Zirelli still doesn't know very many words. Just her name, thank you, cookie, and a few common words.
My mother eventually falls asleep with my father. And Zirelli drags me around the ship for an hour. I'm so tired by the time she is done. But I'm so happy. Eventually I fell asleep on the couch with Zirelli in my arms.
The end. for now.
