WRITING OBSTACLE
Inspired by Kail Cleo
The days of the week are based on real people's character traits. Describe a day of the week through a character.
For example, Monday might be depressed, while Friday might love partying!
Tiw’s Day
Tiw, as her name was spelled and pronounced in Old English, is sometimes called “Tuesday” by her friends, whom she freely admits are special and few. She prefers the old name because it reminds her of its origins in the Nordic god Tyr, a version of the Roman god Mars, imposed on and later adopted by the ancient English. Tiw is a lot like Tyr. Her days are often spent planning how to attack the rest of the week. She is a fierce competitor, ever fighting for the truth, conquering self-doubt and campaigning for justice. Her sister Monday usually already addresses the previous week’s loose ends by the time she’s needed to leap into action. Not everyone favors her unapologetically direct approach. She doesn’t like to mince words and won’t. Her favorite expression is, “Time is money, honey. And there is no time for BS.”She sees no point in stroking egos or making people feel better about their mistakes. She’s on a righteous mission and that requires ambition, honesty, integrity and courage. Tiw’s toil is critical to the success of her brothers and sisters but can seem unkind and unforgiving, so they tease her and call her “Monday’s redheaded step-sister.” She just smiles and laughs it off. Yes, her auburn hair is a fiery departure from her blonde and brunette siblings. She thinks it represents her determination and individuality, a natural expression of her power to infuse passion, confrontation, and resolution into any challenge until it is made whole. Tiw’s unwavering commitment to winning every battle she encounters is the underpinning of how anything gets done in the time a week’s work must be completed, and more importantly to her, how it gets done right.
