STORY STARTER

Inspired by Maranda Quinn

Your protagonist has just been released from a 20 year prison sentence and has to adjust to a world that seems entirely different.

Fortune Cookie

*not the prompt*

There’s a stale fortune cookie sitting on her nightstand.

And the girls see his faces in the wall she hates.

She just sits, staring, her expression deadpan.

And makes friends out of the shadows her window creates.

That fortune cookie, never opened,

The luck inside it will disappear.

It’ll never be cracked and broken

“ which, funny, is what you are.” Says the voices she hears.

She laughed at their joke about the fortune cookie in her.

And her family wondered if she would ever know,

That if the accident would have never occurred,

She might still be sad, had she not slipped in that snow.

Just a funny little story :)
