POEM STARTER
Adelaide T. Everett
Write a poem that starts each new line with the last word of the last line.
For example: I love you so,
So I have to go.
Spin, Around, Side To Side
(The song starts off with a slow waltz in F)
(Do—dada—Do—dada—Do—dada—Do—dada—Do, [repeat])
The world continues to spin
Spin, without a whim
Whim—it says—shaking its head
Headed to wherever it goes
Going to goes, to sunshine road
Road, a road where people die
Die, with peace, licking others feet
Feet swinging from side to side
Side to side
Si-i-ide to side
Side to side
Si-i-ide to side
(Do—dada—Do—dada—Do—dada—Do—dada—Do, [repeat])
I watch them twirl with the world
World-ing their ignorance, close
Closer than their mind
Minding not a single thought
Thought—no think—they only see
Seeing what they want
Wanting only gets them so far
Far in would that spins and spins—
Around, around
A-a-around
Around, around
A-a-around
Around—side
Side—around
Around—side
Side—around
STOP
(There is no sound except the whispering of Tone)
I’m sick of it—hearing—
Hearing all this ignorance!
Ig-ignoring their children’s cries
Crying they lie!
(Oh! I’m—)
Lying down
Lying down
Lying down
Lying down
Down so I don’t see them!—
(WALTZ APPEARS AGAIN! MORE TONES JOIN.)
Spin and spin around
Around from side to side
Side to side; around, around
Around, around—spin-spin-spin-spin-spin-spin
(The Tones start to giggle uncontrollably)
(La, La,
La, La)
(La, La,
La, La)
(La, La,
La, La)
(A child scream wails across the song, ceasing everything)

Listen, I don’t even know what I wrote.
