The Burden of Memory
Write a poem that could have this as its title.
The Burden of Memory
Memories were something of a scare factor
A concept we used to terrify children into obedience
Memories were so warped, they became obsolete
Memories were lesser used for remembrance and instead used for blackmail
People no longer valued memories
They weren’t just parts of history, they were in valued fragments of one’s life
Humans stopped bothering with remembering because it caused more pain
It reminded us of our trials and failures
Memories ruined our society, so we thought to do away with them entirely
If no one could remember our faults, we couldn’t make any more, right?
Memories were too personal
Too powerful
They ruined even the best of days, which ruined even the best of people
People stopped wanted to bear the awful memories, so they simply didn’t
Our minds became closed off to recollection
Our minds were _saved _from the burden of memory_._
(i need feedback on my poem structure & if the stanzas work well together 🙏)
