Who’s good idea was it to go hiking to lose weight?

It was Melissa’s idea at first then she just ate more donuts and laughed about it. But then Kristin got engaged and bridal dresses are supposed to be 10 sizes small, its like a rule and so like the supportive and delusional pair of best friends they are they went on their first hike together.

After all friends that hike together will lose weight together and fit into those majestic Alana dresses.

“I can just imagine Tyrell’s face when I walk down the aisle all snatched after this hike.” Kristin breathlessly said.

“If he fell in love with you now how much more would he love you if you were 10 pounds lighter?” Melissa also breathlessly said, regretting going on this already but she is the bridesmaid. She’d probably be cursed if she didnt help her lose weight.

“He’d probably jump me right then.” Kristin laughed stopping as an excuse to take a break. They’ve had so many breaks at this point they’d arrive tomorrow at the peak. They saw water up ahead and took that as a good sign that they were near.

This is a good time to say this the first time either of them ever hiked in their lives. Sensible people would have found a guide and hiked with them. Unsensible people would have decided hiking was a good way to lose weight and travel at the same time so they took the first trail that Google suggested for them.

As the pair crossed the roaring river, they noticed a figure waiting for them on the other side.

“Am I hallucinating or is that a model?” Melissa asked squinting. Maybe the exhaustion was getting to her. All she ever wanted was right there. Tall, with a pack of abs and a Greek face sculpted by Michelangelo himself.

“This is a popular hiking trail.” Kristin looked and only looked. Loyalty was something she prided herself on. He was legitimately one of the most gorgeous men she ever laid eyes on. Nobody tell Tyrell.

“Oi, you ladies alright?” The man said waving.

“No!” Melissa said with a smile. An opportunity for help from a hot man shall never be missed. “We’re lost.”

Kristin could only nod in agreement. You go girl.

The man came to them shortly after, the sun making his attractiveness more evident and Melissa more thirsty. For water of course.

“This is a pretty tough hike for a couple of ladies. Newbies aint cha?” Melissa didnt know what accent this was from but it was her mission to find out.

“Yeah, we wanted to be with nature more.” Melissa chose the most diplomatic answer as if they didnt come here on a whim of vanity.

“If you’d like, I can guide you since I’ve been here sevral times already. I’d hate to see newbies get into an accident.”

Melissa couldn’t say yes fast enough.

Kristin just stayed back as she witnessed her friend attempt to flirt. It was commendable but the man was a serious hiker and answered like an instructor would. She never knew she’d learn so much about hiking. She also never knew she’d be refused so many breaks. That was her God given right and her legs were screaming.

“Come on, Kristin. Only a few ways and we’re at the top.” The lies coming out of this man was too much he said this 5 times already.

“Yes, Kris. I- believe- you…” Melissa said her breaths coming out short cause ironically she did not believe in herself. Maybe if she’d passed out she’d be in the arms of Alexei. Even his name was sexy. She’d definitely get his number, this mountain be damned.

Eventually they did get to the top and Alexei readied water as the girls decided dropped to the ground.

“Good job for your first time ladies.” Alexei handed them water.

The girls took it and emptied them, not caring if they looked like dehydrated pigs. Never again will they do this. Fuck the myth of weddings dresses being 10 sizes smaller. They’ll get custom.

“Me and a couple of my buddies are hiking again next week. We’d love to have more company. Hiking doesn’t really give us more opportunities to be with women.” Alexei showed his phone, the screensaver of his buddies shirtless atop a high mountain with looks of victory.

Melissa looked at Kristin. You’re getting married I want to be too, her eye contact said.

I’m bringing Tyrell, Kristin said through eye contact back.

Bring the other girls they are single too, the eye contact communication continued and they both nodded.

“Uhhh girls, you okay? You haven’t blinked for awhile now.” Alexei asked, confused.

“I’m bringing my fiance.” Kristin announced.

“For sure, the more the merrier.”

“Out of curiosity do you guys often hike shirtless?” Melissa wondered, earning a chuckle from Alexei.

“If you’d like.” Alexei winked and that was the moment Melissa decided she would hike rain or shine if this was involved.

Kristin could already see the wedding plans in her best friend’s eyes.
