POEM STARTER
Write a poem about taking a gamble.
Your interpretation can include the classic ideas associated with gambling, or something more metaphorical.
Bye
My heart and soul, knew it was finally time to leave
Enough of the terrible days, with tears on my sleeve
Saving and stashing, bits of money tucked secretly away
Waiting for the calendar of freedom, to come my way
With the post office’s help, I sent boxes of my life home
Little by little, the fear was leaving me as he did roam
I knew that I was taking, a huge gamble leaving that place
It has been many a year, since there has been a smile on my face
Now the day has come, for tickets and paper goodbyes no kiss or smile
I am flying away from my past, and going toward my future for a while
